UDL: Lower functioning students will use a sequence of 2 to 3 pictures in order to determine what a bully is.
Initial instruction:
The teacher will direct students to their computers telling them to read the directions at the top of each website. Each student will have a sheet of paper available to take notes. The paper should have two sections: things that a bully does and things that you can do to protect yourself from a bully.
Guided practice:
The teacher will read along with the students the instructions first and then the first chapter on the website. The teacher will explain that the website contains information about what bullying means and what things can you do to stay safe.
Independent practice:
The students will write on their papers information that will help them to identify bullies. The students will also make a 3 to 5 steps list of things they can do when they have to deal with a bully.
Evaluation: The lists made by the students will have to include steps that: maintain a positive attitude and are sequenced appropriately from least intrusive to more intrusive approaches.
Performance Evaluation: The students will have to demonstrate 3 out of 3 (100%) appropriate understanding of the steps during a role play with other students.
